There was once a banquet to which courtesans were invited. It took place on All Saints Day in 1501, in the presence of Alexander VI of the notorious Borgia family. Fifty naked women crawled on all fours, chasing glazed chestnuts tossed to them by the Pope and his cardinals.
The women then submitted to other capricious requests. Finally, the Pope rewarded those that had demonstrated the most spirit. One of these women was the daughter of a cardinal who, of course, was present at the feast.
